Reasonable Suspicion Training 2nd Class

September 25, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Reasonable suspicion training is a critical tool to help supervisors learn to identify signs and symptoms of drug or alcohol impairment on the job. If a supervisor suspects that an employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they must conduct a reasonable suspicion test. This training provides supervisors with strategies to confront their employees and make appropriate referrals. It also will provide guidance on the documentation process. The new cannabis law will require you to use reasonable suspicion to determine impairment.

  • The objectives of the training include:
    • Brief overview of substance use disorders
    • Understanding your role and responsibility in reasonable suspicion testing
    • Learn how to identify problem indicators
    • Understand how to properly document & manage the process
    • Strategies for employee confrontation and referral

This course will utilize relevant handouts, brief video clips and workplace scenarios to help participants interact with the material. This course will be facilitated by TEAM.

Please note the Agreement does not allow Bargaining Unit employees to evaluate bargaining unit employees under the Union Drug Policy. Therefore, please register only non-Bargaining employees for this training.
